Serum is the preferred sample type for MOG antibody testing. As a general guideline, CSF testing is not needed for MOG antibody-associated disease diagnosis and is less sensitive than serum testing. CSF testing will not be performed in isolation and a paired serum (within maximum 1 week of CSF collection) is required.

Serum testing is now NATA accredited. CSF testing remains a research assay only.

Paired serum must be received within 1 week of the CSF. Do not send only CSF, it will be rejected.
