All requests for HIT testing should be referred to the Haematology Registrar or Haematopathologist for approval prior to proceeding with testing. They will discuss the request with the ordering clinician to determine appropriateness and urgency, as well as assist with interpretation of results.
HITScreen/ELISA testing (HITE) is only available after consultation with the Consultant Haematologist or Haematology Registrar.
Laboratory staff at Monash Medical Centre must be informed if the ELISA test is to be done urgently.
