PTHrp is rarely required to investigate unexplained hypercalcaemia. It will not be done where calcium is within normal limits, or an alternate explanation for hypercalcaemia exists.
Test must be performed in dedicated, specific tube. Test must be discussed with the Chemical Pathologist at least one week prior to sample collection, to allow for dedicated tube to be ordered. These tubes are only available from the Box Hill Lab due to small amount of stock.
Test must be requested with iCa and PTH at the same collection.
There is an out of pocket cost of $120, payable by patient or requesting unit. Financial consent forms are available on the front page of the Handbook. |
