Liver disease or Hepatitis of unknown aetiology may raise the possibility of Autoimmune Hepatitis. Indications for testing are negative viral serology and elevated transaminases. There are various subtypes of autoimmune hepatitis – different antibody patterns can help categorise the subtypes.

LKM, Liver Kidney Microsome 1
ANCA, Anti Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibody (esp. perinuclearANCA )
SLA, Soluble Liver antigen
SLA/LP, Soluble Liver antigen and/or Liver pancreas antibody
LCA, Liver Cytosol antibodies
LSMP, Liver specific membrane lipoprotein antibody
