Light Chain Detection - The presence of free and intact monoclonal light chains is assessed by immunofixation after electrophoresis or isoelectric focusing

Light Chain Typing - the heavy and light chain classes are determined when a new monoclonal protein (paraprotein) has been detected in a previously undiagnosed patient

 

A  24 hour urine collection (preferrable) or a 50 mL random urine specimen.
