• Any other drug assays are referred to another laboratory
• Before requesting investigative drug screens, question every person in contact with the patient regarding the type and quantity of drug(s) taken

Information on the request form should include:

• drugs ingested and/or administered
• drugs administered therapeutically and times of administration
• clinical condition including conscious state, BP and cardiac rhythm

Screening for carbamezapine, digoxin, ethanol, lithium (do not use Lithium heparin tube), paracetamol, phenytoin, salicylate, valproate and theophylline
