Urine Drug Confirmation

Ordering information:

Please note: Neither we nor our referral lab for Drug confirmation are AAS/NZ 4308 certified, although we both follow the recommendations of that standard. As such, this test is for clinical use only, not for forensic nor legal use.

A Urine drug confirmation by GCMS can only be performed on the sample that was initially screened. A negative screening test is very unlikely to be positive on confirmation, however a positive screening test may become negative on confirmation.

GCMS confirmation can delinate specific compounds of interest, and differnetiate between different drugs in the same class.

Occasionally unexpected findings occur, such as detected therapeutic drugs.

Drug Confirmations must be approved by the Chemical Pathologist.
