Muscle Biopsy

Cerner Orderable: Muscle Biopsy.

Contact Anatomical Pathology 9895 3477 before starting procedure, in the morning, to ensure the referral laboratory is able to receive the specimen.  

Collect One (1) specimen:

 - 20 x 10 x 10mm rectangular piece of muscle and place in a dry sterile container (yellow lid).

 - Send directly to pathology in an esky on ice cubes.

A specimen in formalin is not required

Laboratory hours are 9am - 5pm, Monday - Friday.

Specimens need to be delivered to Leve4 Specimen Reception by 3pm as the specimen must arrive at Alfred Pathology by 4pm.
