Herpes Virus PCR

*For swabs - preferred specimen type is a dry white top swab, gel swabs are sub-optimal for viral PCR testing*

Test performed is a multiplex PCR for the following viruses: Herpes simplex 1 virus (HSV-1); Herpes simplex 2 virus (HSV-2); Varicella zoster virus (VZV); Cytomegalovirus (CMV); Enterovirus (EV); human Adenovirus (hAdv). Swabs, urine, and CSF samples are performed in-house at Box Hill laboratory, other sample types are referred.
