Notification of anticoagulant therapy is essential
One (1x) Sodium citrate tubes is required. Do not use 1 ml citrate tubes.
Filled to label marker and mixed by inversion
The patient must not be receiving heparin
Unspun sample is stable for up to 4 hours and must be transport to laboratory immediately. (Sample must be double spun, aliquoted and frozen within 4 hours from time of collection).
Tests performed:
INR, APTT, APTT Mix, Silica Clotting Time and Dilute Russell's Viper venom time (LA screen/Confirm).
LA screen <1.2 Lupus anticoagulant not detected.
LA Confirm <1.2 Lupus anticoagulant not detected
1.2 - 1.5 L.A. weakly present
1.5 - 2.0 L.A. moderately present.
>2.0 L.A. strongly present
