Parathyroid Hormone can also be requested as an intraoperative test to assist in Parathyroidectomy. Please discuss this use with the laboratory beforehand, and specify intraoperative PTH as the requested test.
Preferably fasting as PTH levels are affected by Calcium absorption.
PTH is stable in EDTA whole blood for up to 20 hours at room temperature.
Transport Whole blood at 15- 25 degrees C.
1.6 - 6.9 pmol/L
