Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology

Ordering information:

A Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) attendance service is provided – prior booking is essential (9895 3477). Cytologists are on site from 9am to 4:00pm at BHH to assist in slide preparation and interpretation. After hours contact the on-call pathologist.

Collection Instructions:

A combination of air dried and wet fixed (spray fixed) monolayered smears is suggested for routine diagnostic purposes.

Spray fixative, slides and slide holders are available from pathology by calling 53477.

Needle rinse for cell block requires RPMI.
