Ketones (Blood)

Ordering information:

This test is done at the patient's bedside using the Optium Blood Glucose Meter (available in all wards). It is no longer performed as a laboratory test. Except in the case of the sample associated with a hypoglycaemic episode during a prolonged fast.

Please note that Eastern Health Policy promotes Blood Ketone testing in place of Urine Ketones.
