Trichomonas PCR

Ordering information:

In EMR, order Genital culture, in the SUSPECTED PATHOGENS field select "Trichomonas". Add ?Trichomonas in the clinical details.

NB: Correct specimen is the White Top swab contained in the Genital Collection Kit

Collection Instructions:

Urine

15 - 20 mL of first-stream urine specimen collected at least one hour since the patient last voided. Refrigerate immediately

Cervical & Vaginal swabs

Use plastic swab in plain tube without transport medium (wire swab not suitable)

ALL Specimens must reach the Pathology laboratory within 2 hours of collection.
