Spin and Separate Plasma

 

 

RBC Zinc (when specifically requested)  - Collect trace metal tube, spin and separate as per normal.

Sample sent to ACL.

 

 

LAB STAFF NOTE : The Reference Lab will only receive aliquots which are sent in a metal-free aliquot tube (see container picture above).  Sample must be decanted by pour-off (do not use plastic pipettes).

2 mL
Notes:

Diurnal variation occurs.

Highest values are seen early a.m.

Please collect separate tube for zinc sample.

Haemolysed specimens are unsuitable.
